The Oak Grove High School history department hosted the 22nd annual Veteran’s Day breakfast Thursday morning. Over 100 veterans and family members alike came to commemorate this special holiday. The event was hosted at Movie Star restaurant this year, with attendees arriving as early as 6 am.

The Veteran’s Day breakfast is a school-wide effort, with participation from several clubs and organizations. This year, the Centerstage! show choir preformed for the veterans and their family members. Additionally, members of several OGHS clubs, including Beta Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council, woke up early to serve. The OGHS Yearbook created a video of OGHS students saying “thank you.”

Senior Deep Patel volunteered for the Beta Club. “I got to greet the veterans who came in, talk to them, and make them feel welcome,” he said. “It is amazing that even at an old age they would rather carry their own plates.”

To volunteer next year, contact a history teacher or club sponsor.
